According to Screen Daily Fairuza will be narrating a film called Beyond Clueless that promises to take “audiences on an exhilarating ride into the mind, body and soul of the teen movie, as seen through the eyes of over 200 modern teen classics” and will focus on films such as “13 Going On 30, EuroTrip, The Craft, Jeepers Creepers, The Faculty and The Girl Next Door.” Director Charlie Lyne correctly observes of Balk “she’s got one of the best voices in teen movie history.” Summer Camp will provide the score

My hosting company has detected the large amounts of spam being posted on the forum and have gone in and moved the forum files away, effectively taking it offline. I’m not immediately sure what the best way is to remedy this, but I’ll consider all the options and hopefully have it back up and running soon.
However, as everyone probably already knows, I’m not very active around here anymore due to lack of time, so unfortunately I have no way of telling you how long it’s going to take.
I also want to ask you whether you would be OK with me installing a new forum, or if you prefer I try to salvage what’s left of the old one? A new database would mean new user registrations, but also a whole lot of better, more stable features (and no spam), whereas merely upgrading the old one would likely preserve all the spam posted so far and might not stay effective in combating future attacks.
Update: I figured the forum was pretty much broken beyond repair in the state it was in (again, I’m sorry about this), so I felt it necessary to take some drastic measures. Every user with an ID over 1000 has been deleted, along with all their posts. I realize there’s a chance there were some legitimate users among them, and I’m very sorry about removing you, but there was little else to do. Thankfully, this restored the forums to a very usable state, with 99% of the spam deleted along with the bot accounts that posted them.
I have also migrated the forums over to PHPBB, meaning it’s now faster, better and much more secure than it was before. There’s now not only an activation requirement on new members, but also captcha verification and restrictions on new members. Some of this may be a bit draconian at first, but as we go along, I’ll be loosening it up to make the forums more comfortable for everyone.
All the old users should be migrated over to the new forums, but if you’re having troubles logging in, first try to reset your passwords by following the instructions on the login page. If that doesn’t work, feel free to contact me to let me know, and I’ll look into it. The conversion from the old forums to the new ones isn’t perfect, but so far I haven’t noticed any immediate issues myself.
So, without further ado, I once again welcome you to the Quiet Storm forums!
Now a veteran of two “Celebrity Ghost Stories” episodes, Fairuza now gets a sort-of threepeat by helping to launch The Biography Channel’s apparent new variation on the concept called “The Haunting Of…” A press release at The Futon Critic says “BIO presents “The Haunting Of,” a new original series with world-renowned psychic-medium Kim Russo, as she gives an exclusive look at celebrities who have had their lives changed by paranormal events. The supernatural journey premieres Saturday, October 27th at 10PM ET/10PM PT.”
Last month, Balk tweeted about the shoot saying “Bio channel came & shot at my art space as the building is haunted. It was pretty weird. They brought a medium & everything.”
Destiny Pictures declares this picture wrapped and preparing for release this year.
Not too long ago, Ms. Balk launched her line of handmade candles which come in a box wax sealed with “the ring that I wear around my neck every day which my father made for me.” The candles come in three sizes and a selection of six scents and are available from the store at Fairuza.com.
Neil Gaiman recently posted of dining with Fairuza, opining that it is “Very fitting that this fire spirit will bring the wick to your flame.”

On October 29th Fairuza Balk will appear on the Season 3 premiere of The Biography Channel series Celebrity Ghost Stories in which, according to Zap2it, she will tell a tale of being supernaturally menaced in a hotel. See a short promo video featuring Balk at their site here.
On Jan. 14 Fairuza (tweeting on the subject here) will be showing some of her art as part of a group show of evidently horse-themed work at Melissa Morgan Fine Art 73-040 El Paseo Palm Desert, CA. Some of Balk’s artwork (presumably for this show) can be found on the site on this page
Several magazines from Fairuza’s early career are for sale. Clippings from several magazines which contains interviews, photoshoots, events, movies and so on. The collection is getting sold because I, Maria need to earn money for an operation for my beloved dog, Oliver. He used to be a stray dog in Spain and has had a rough life before I adopted him and I need to “fix” his old knee and his teeth.
The magazines are REALLY rare and hard to find. Hardly ever get up on sites such as eBay or so. If you want to support me and my dog and get a great collection please contact me at my mail. I hate to have to sell my collection but of course my doggie comes first.
And you can make a “bid” for what you want to give for the clippings and I can put up an auction on eBay for it if you want to.
– You might know me from have had fansites on Fairuza since 2000, on domains such as fairuza-balk.com and fairuzabalk.org and I have the fanlisting.
According to posts from Ms. Balk on Facebook this is the name of her band whose single, she says, is being “being mixed as we speak”, will be “not what folks expect” (after the joy of her track on the Humboldt County soundtrack, I’m rather hoping she goes straight at psychobilly) and will be available on her official site when it launches
U P D A T E: Fairuza.com is now live and it’s shop includes a preorder offer for the Armed Love Militia single “Stormwinds”. It is described as “a limited edition art piece, and will eventually be part of a complete album concept.” The run is 500 pieces signed and numbered by Ru herself. So if you want one, don’t hesitate long. A digital download is promised “at a later date.”
On April 13th Fairuza announced on her My Space blog that she has struck a deal to attain ownership of long-standing fansite Fairuza.com, making it her official website. The site is currently down for a redesign to serve this purpose but promises to be back up soon.
