Watching this, I had to wonder if anyone involved in creating this, esp. among the writers, actually [i]liked[/i] Barbara Hutton. At [i]all[/i]. It seems determined to illustrate that she and everything and everyone adjacent to her at any given time were banal to the point of being beneath interest. Long before the six hours are up, when what little camp value there is to be gleaned has worn off, it succeeds at that and of convincing the viewer the same of itself.
Balk, adorable at about 12, appears for about 15 minutes of the runtime as young Hutton. She gets to throw an effective tantrum and use those big blue eyes for some nice plaintive close-ups.
Probably my least favorite thing Balk's been in, except maybe [i]Deadly Intentions...Again?[/i]
