The Muskegon Chronicle: A 'Bad Lieutenant,' Cage's crooked cop gets bent out of shape

Pirate Sky: It’s an experience that will linger long after like a vivid nightmare and while that might not sound like a recommendation – believe me it is.

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

Film Babble: Cage's outrageously off kilter performance fills the screen with kinetic energy that wonderfully erases the horrible memories of such dreck as the NATIONAL TREASURE movies and the other crappy commercial fare that has plagued his career of late. It's a gutsy gripping piece of acting that made me giggle throughout

Slackerwood: My goodness. I hardly know where to begin. Werner Herzog took me on the strangest trip, with Nicolas Cage as my erratic, no, insane tour guide, and I still feel exhausted and weirdly exhilarated every time I think about it.

Made The Malaysian Insider's Top Ten and that of Capone @ Ain't It Cool News and those of a few guys at Twitch: Rodney Perkins, The Butcher and Todd Brown and gets an honorable mention from /Film

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

My Gray Morning: B+

The Stop Button: The supporting cast is excellent, particularly Val Kilmer and Mendes. Kilmer isn’t in it much but he’s great when he is present, but Mendes is always around. The quality of her performance’s shocking. Brad Dourif’s great. Xzibit and Jennifer Coolidge too. Not enough fairuza Balk though. 3.5 Stars

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

Hey, ultradamno... This is going to sound so pathetic, coming from me, but a sincere THANK YOU for doing what you're doing here. You're absolutely fantastic. I'm really sorry I'm not doing more on this site than I am, but I really don't have the time anymore to keep updating myself, and this site, of the latest happenings. And don't even get me started on the amount of material you dig up. It's just unbelievable.

So again, fantastic work keeping this place alive. It would have gone down the tubes years ago if it hadn't been for you.

More on topic: fairuza looks awesome in the interviews. I'm so glad to see she's still as passionate and into-it as he used to be. Last I saw of her was Humboldt County, and I'm looking forward to seeing her in this movie (which might even have a decent chance to reach the theaters here - go fairuza on the silver screen!).

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

+1, you're doing a great job.

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

Thank you both. It's my pleasure. And major thanks for whatever came along with the new format that has evidently dramatically cut down on the number of obvious spammer registrations. Things are now so much less sisyphean. ;D

Re: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

Liz Langley: a smart, funny, weird detective story that shows fairuza Balk to be as bewitching as ever.

The Aspen Times: Cage shines as a crooked cop in resetting of ‘Bad Lieutenant'

California Chronicle: While Herzog's imagination challenges at times in intriguing ways, he ends his film with a putrid conclusion that changes the rules that Cage's character has been living by and makes the film almost meaningless.

Ashland Daily Tidings: Cage captures madness in 'Bad Lieutenant'

Review St. Louis: A film not for everyone, but there is a lot to like for those that enjoy dark off the wall pictures and this one even has a pretty good detective plot going for it as well.

Memphis Flyer: Crazy, For You: The latest Bad Lieutenant isn't good or bad. It just is.

Atomic Town: 'Bad Lieutenant' — great movie: 5 Stars

Zoiks: Wildly violent, darkly humorous and directed with freewheeling relish and great skill, “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” pays tribute to the disturbing original film while giving the material his own black comic spin

Isthmus: Nicolas Cage camps it up in The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans Bad Lieutenant is laughable, horrifying, cringe-inducing. It's also a lot of fun. You might disagree.

Ultimate Disney: DVD Bad Lieutenant looks as good as any new film, as its DVD's 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen picture satisfies in clarity, cleanliness, and detail. The Dolby 5.1 soundtrack gets noticed in only a few places, but it is sufficient throughout. A basic English stereo track is also offered.
