Cool. Now if someone would get on Murder In The Heartland that would be great...

DVD Verdict: Overcooked and a genuine challenge to get through, Poor Little Rich Girl is recommended only to the sincerest and the most curious, but we recommend reading the book instead.

DVD Talk: Skip It

Re: Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story (mini-series)

Watching this, I had to wonder if anyone involved in creating this, esp. among the writers, actually liked Barbara Hutton. At all. It seems determined to illustrate that she and everything and everyone adjacent to her at any given time were banal to the point of being beneath interest. Long before the six hours are up, when what little camp value there is to be gleaned has worn off, it succeeds at that and of convincing the viewer the same of itself.

Balk, adorable at about 12, appears for about 15 minutes of the runtime as young Hutton. She gets to throw an effective tantrum and use those big blue eyes for some nice plaintive close-ups.

Probably my least favorite thing Balk's been in, except maybe Deadly Intentions...Again?
